The Healthy Queensland Awards are open to any Queensland school, business, local government, community group or other group auspiced by an incorporated body.


Award Categories


The Healthy Communities Award is about rewarding streets, suburbs, schools, workplaces and towns that work together to promote healthy lifestyles. Activities could be aimed at increasing physical activity, making healthier food choices, achieving and maintaining a healthy weight, being smoke free, encouraging responsible drinking and being sun smart.

The Healthy Schools Award is about rewarding State and non-government schools for healthy living initiatives. Such initiatives could be aimed at increasing physical activity, eating healthier food, achieving and maintaining a healthy weight, learning about responsible drinking and discouraging smoking, learning about alternatives to drug and alcohol use and building resilience and self-esteem and being sun smart.

The Healthy Workplaces Award is about rewarding organisations that employ people either in a paid or voluntary capacity, such as small businesses, an office, a branch, charities and corporations for healthy living initiatives. Activities can include programs about physical activity, nutrition, smoking and alcohol consumption, and sun safety when working outdoors.

Prize money


Awards prize money is to be used for healthy infrastructure and/or programs and projects that promote improved health and well-being.

1 x Healthy Community Winner: $750,000
5 x Healthy Community Finalists: $50,000
1 x Healthy School Winner: $250,000
5 x Healthy School Finalists: $50,000
1 x Healthy Workplace Winner: $50,000
5 x Healthy Workplace Finalists: $10,000

How to Enter


1. Gather information concerning programs and projects that promote healthy lifestyles you have conducted in the past and your future plans.

2. Prepare your submission.

3. Complete the Online Registration form and upload your submission before entries close or download and complete an entry form & post this with your submission to:

Late entries will not be accepted.


Assessment of Applications

Candidates will be short-listed based on submitted applications on the official entry form.

Judging will be done by an experienced, independent panel of Keep Australia Beautiful Queensland judges.

Judging will take into account a community’s, school’s or workplace’s geographic, environmental, cultural and economic circumstances, and assess how efficiently and effectively the community, school or workplace uses its available resources, against four criteria.
